Think Pink!

Outfit

Jacket - Shara (made by me)
Top - Zara
Skirt - H&M
Shoes - Miss KG
Clutch - Dorothy Perkins
Necklace - LBD Gems

Hi All!

This week I wanted to show off this fabulous pink jacket that I made, I thought to myself 'Shara you design clothes, why are you not showing your skills?' (every now and then you need to give yourself a pep talk) so I've decided that from now on I will try and wear at least one piece made by me in a style post.

This cropped jacket if I do say so myself is perfect for spring, and a good throw on statement piece that adds a colourful sophistication to the outfit with the collar. To wear a colourful piece like this I would advise to keep the rest of the outfit in neutral colours so that the jacket really pops.

I love these skirts from H&M, they fit beautifully and are a cheap and cheerful buy at £7.99 which can be worn to work or just for everyday.

These are my 'I think I'm Naomi Campbell' (in my mind) sunglasses, when I have these on I feel fierce.

Last but not least, can we just take a moment please for my shoes, my shoes, my SHOES! They are officially my favourite pair of shoes now, I absolutely love them. I had my eye on them for aggggesssss, but they were £80 and ain't nobody got time to be spending £80 on shoes. BUT low and behold they went down to £36, let the church say Amen! 👏👏👏👏

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Vogue Book: 'The Gown'

Much like any fashionista and designer, we all have places where we get our inspiration from. Mine are mainly sunsets, tropical fish (you know the usual) for when I'm designing clothes. However sometimes its nice to refer to some history and look at some of the legendary designers and magazines that did / do it best.

I am so excited writing about this because not only is 'Vogue' a great source of inspiration for emerging designers, but I got this beautiful book called 'The Gown' on sale reduced from £60 down to £15 Yaaasss! Won't he do it! *church stomp*

As soon as I saw it I had to snatch it up. In true Vogue style, the hard back book comes in a gorgeous black case with a blue metallic finish to keep it preserved, and is filled with iconic fashion pieces and editorials like this one below, which is my favourite image in the book, mainly because of the use of bright colour and clashing prints.

This collectors piece gives us an insight into when 'Vogue was started in 1892 with images of their first front covers all the way up to now, with emphasis on how much of an integral part the different designers interpretation of a gown was iconic to the magazine.

For designers, stylists or fashion lovers in general, I would say that this is a fantastic book to buy and and read. I think fashion history is so important. Whilst platforms like Instagram, Tumblr and even blogs are brilliant, sometimes a good ole book that is tangible does the trick in my opinion. :)

Obsessed with the gown on the stairs OMG - just amazing!

Spring Style Picks

With the evenings getting brighter and outside getting warmer I think it's fair to say Spring is in full swing, BUT I can't say the same about my wardrobe *sigh*. It's strange because as a fashion designer you'd think I'd have lots of clothes right? -Wrong!

...Well I do have clothes in my wardrobe - just not the ones I want, and I've sold a bunch of stuff recently clearing space for the things I'm currently lusting after. Below I've picked out some of the items that I would like in my Spring wardrobe from my favourite shops which include Zara (obviously), Top Shop & H&M. More recently I came across an American brand called 'Spring', a cool and quirky site that sells high street & designer brands to suit every fashionista from 'Urban Outfitters' to 'Phillip Lim'. Although some of the prices are a little steep for Shara funds, there are a few items I can definitely see fitting right into my wardrobe, especially this denim halter neck and yellow shirt YYAAASSS!

My other style picks are not for me, but for the slightly more seasoned fashionista aged 50+. Someone recently actually had the nerve to say to me that women over 50 don't care about fashion, I was absolutely dumbfounded, but I thought this would be a great opportunity to pick some items that would look amazing on a fierce and fabulous woman over 50.

For the mature Woman
